About the Artist
Design It Yourself is an interactive design exhibition where everyone can design a magazine cover, a stop motion animation and T-shirt design. In the exhibition, both children and adults are challenged to set to work as designers. There are several parts of the exhibition there you can let you imagination run free.
We have the 'Stop we have motion' a race against time to make a stop motion animation with all the moveable design elements in the exhibition room. There is a camera hanging from the ceiling which makes a picture every 10 seconds and this results in a stop motion animation.
We also have 'On the cover' where you can design your own magazine cover with the moveable design elements. The cover is marked on the floor and it's so big that you actually can lie on the ground and be part of the cover. Here there is also camera hanging from the ceiling which makes a picture of your design.
There is 'Back to the drawing board' here you can draw on a (bigger than) life size paper t-shirt. Here is also camera hanging from the ceiling which makes a picture of your t-shirt and the result is placed in a magazine template.
There also is a pictogram-drawing-contest-machine the 'Design-o-mat', the machine works like a slot machine and will give you a random crazy assignment. For instance; design a pictogram for 'a swimming pool - for hamsters - in the desert' or ' a parking lot - for annoying people - with humor'.
When you've finished your design you get a receipt and with this you can check your design online and forward it to your friends. All the results are published on the Design It Yourself website, there are new designs being made every minute.
